01Choose your launcher
Classic World uses different installation routes on Nexon Launcher and Steam. The October 21 launch notes list Windows and macOS support.
- Nexon Launcher: sign in, open MapleStory in your library, select the MapleStory Classic World toggle, and download its standalone client.
- Steam: install or update MapleStory from your library. The official FAQ points to the regular MapleStory store listing for access.
- Already play MapleStory? Check that you selected Classic World before troubleshooting a missing character or an unfamiliar screen.
02Link the right Nexon account
Steam players can link an account in either of two ways:
- On the Nexon website, sign in and open Account Settings.
- Or launch MapleStory through Steam and sign in to Nexon when prompted.
- Check the Nexon account before confirming. For a linking error, save the exact message and contact Player Support; do not assume that progress can be moved between accounts.
03Make the controls feel like home
Choose Classic Style or Modern Style for your keyboard. Modern Style supports WASD movement.
For a controller, open Game Options and turn on Enable Controller Support; it is off by default. The FAQ lists Xbox, DualSense, and DualShock controllers over USB or Bluetooth. Other models may not work properly.
- Not recognized? First check the in-game toggle and the USB or Bluetooth connection.
- Still stuck? Give support your operating system, controller model, connection method, and exact symptom. These checks are a starting point, not a guaranteed fix.
04Stuck before your first session?
Use the symptom to choose your next check. Avoid changing several account or device settings at once; keeping track makes a support report more useful.

05One last check, then off you go
The October 21 notes list English as official, with Spanish and Korean in beta. The UI, class names, cash item names, and pet names remain English. These newer notes take precedence over the older FAQ.
This setup guide summarizes official instructions; we have not tested the installation or controllers ourselves.
