MapleStory Classic World Ice/Lightning Wizard build: Cold Beam, Thunder Bolt and SP from 30

Advance to I/L Wizard at level 30, follow a community SP order (Teleport, Cold Beam, then Thunder Bolt), plan INT and LUK around wands, and pick training maps.

01Becoming an Ice/Lightning Wizard

At level 30, talk to Grendel the Really Old in Ellinia, take his letter to the Magician Job Instructor north of Ellinia, collect 30 Dark Marbles, claim The Proof of a Hero and return to choose Ice/Lightning. Third job is not in the game yet.

The build below summarises Nia Meow’s I/L Wizard guide on NiaMeowDB (updated October 29), which is based on a realistic level 70 build by Grummash. It is a community route, not an official recommendation, and this site has not played it through. Check your own skill window before spending points.

02AP and wands

Put most AP into INT. The source adds LUK only when the next weapon or shield needs it, for example +5 LUK at level 35 for the Wizard Wand, with INT +5 at every other level from 31 to 39.

06Strengths and weaknesses

  • Thunder Bolt hits up to six monsters; Cold Beam slows and is strong against ice-weak monsters.
  • Meditation and Teleport help the party and your movement.
  • Thunder Bolt is expensive in MP, and resistant monsters cut spell damage.
  • Low HP makes bosses risky without Magic Guard.
