Troubleshooting / MapleStory Classic World

MapleStory Classic World can’t log in? Error 500, region message, full channels and disconnects

Match what you see to the likely cause: maintenance, an outdated client after a patch, a Nexon platform outage (error 500), full channels, or a bug fixed in v1.1.0.

01Check these two things first

  1. Is it everyone, or just you?

Open Nexon’s MapleStory server status page and the maintenance news. Classic World maintenance is announced there and marked “Completed” when servers are back. If a window is in progress, nothing on your side will help.

  2. Restart the launcher after every patch

Nexon’s maintenance notices ask players to restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam to receive the latest client update. Close it fully, including from the system tray, then open it again. Steam can lag a few minutes behind the Nexon Launcher right after a patch.

03Error 500 and the region message

When Founder’s Access opened on October 6, many players got a connection error reported as error 500 when pressing Play, sometimes alongside error 30405 and the “not currently supported for your location” message. Nexon said on Discord that it was aware of “an issue preventing players from connecting to all Nexon Platform services.” In other words, the problem was on Nexon’s side, not in the player’s installation.

If you see the same combination again, check whether others are reporting it before changing anything. Reinstalling will not fix a platform outage, and using a VPN or changing your account region to get around a region message can put the account at risk.

04“You cannot access the game for one of the following reasons”

This pop-up is older than Classic World and has appeared in the main MapleStory game for years. On Nexon’s forum, a moderator explained that it is not the banned-player message and usually means the game cannot reach the server. The general checks suggested there were: allow the game through your firewall, fully restart the computer, and try another internet connection to see whether the problem is your network.

We have not found a Classic World–specific explanation from Nexon, so treat this as general advice and check the server status first.

05Greyed-out or full channels

Classic World runs 40 channels. A greyed-out or full channel means that channel is at capacity at that moment; the world itself can be online. Choose another channel, especially at busy evening hours.

Kerning City Party Quest is limited to certain channels, so those can fill up faster than others.

06Fixed in v1.1.0 (October 29)

If one of these still happens, your client probably has not updated. Restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam and check again.

  • The client sometimes disconnected new players on Character Select.
  • Players sometimes disconnected after changing channel while Final Attack was active.
  • Players could get stuck in the Free Market.
  • Mushroom Garden was wrongly set as a town, so Store Permits and the Lie Detector Test could not be used there.
  • Citizenship daily quests could be completed twice in one day.

07New rules in v1.1.0 that look like bugs

  • Characters must be level 10 to send whispers.
  • Players with an outstanding debt can no longer pick up mesos or items dropped by other players. Drops from monsters you defeated and certain party quest items can still be picked up.
